Dr. Khan,

The UGS Committee reviewed the Islamic Studies Minor proposal and noted that, under program requirements, the "3 courses at or above the 300 level" needs to be clarified to state explicitly what courses can be meet this requirement (ie. history? english? etc).  This needs to be clarified before we can move forward on your proposal.  In addition, would you please make revisions under the section program requirements to list credits with courses and totals to demonstrate how 18 credits is the final total?

Please respond to Karren Ann Helsel <karren@udel.edu> with these revisions.

Thank you.

1.         The three 300 level courses can be any of those from Philosophy, Anthropology, History Political Science and English [See attachment Y]. In addition, the designated advisor of the minor (and in the future, the director of the proposed Islamic Studies Program) will have the authority to make course substitutions for required courses.

2.         In order to complete the minor, the student will take the two core courses for six credits [See 3 above], and four courses, three of which will be of 300 level or above from the list of courses available for a total of 18 credits.

Dr. Khan,

The UGS Committee reviewed the Islamic Studies Minor with Language proposal and noted that with the completion of the Arabic language sequence, the minor would have far too many credits.  This needs to be
clarified before we can move forward on your proposal.  Would you please make revisions under the section program requirements to list credits with courses and totals to demonstrate how 18 credits is the final total?

Please respond to Karren Ann Helsel <karren@udel.edu> with these revisions.

Thank you.

The total number of credits for the minor with language will range from 18 credits to 30 credits, depending on the number of courses needed to achieve the 107 level. This is the same as the East Asian Studies minor
with language, so there is precedent for it.
