SUBJECT:       Regular Faculty Senate Meeting November 7, 2005

 

            In accordance with Section IV, paragraph 6 of the Constitution, the regular meeting of the University Faculty Senate will be held on Monday, November 7, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. in room 104 Gore Hall. 

 

I certify that hard copies of the approval page for each undergraduate and graduate studies academic item on the agenda are filed in the Faculty Senate Office with the appropriate signatures of approval up through the Chair of the Faculty Senate Coordinating Committee on Education.  The Agenda will be as follows:

B.     Resolutions:

 

1.      Recommendation from Senator Carroll Izard with the concurrence of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee (Avron Abraham, Chair) to commend President David P. Roselle for his accomplishments at the University of Delaware

 

Whereas,          President Roselle has considerably strengthened the infrastructure and financial resources of the University during both lean and prosperous times, and

 

Whereas,          he shows genuine concern for increasing excellence in scholarship and research through his support of competitive faculty salaries and an unprecedented increase in endowed professorships, and

 

Whereas,          faculty and administrators across the nation have acknowledged him as an excellent University President who recognizes and encourages all academic programs and academic support units of the University of Delaware, and

 

Whereas,          on being congratulated for his achievements in the University, he demurely replies: “It’s not about me.  It’s about our colleagues and the things that are happening at the University,” be it therefore

 

Resolved,         that the Faculty Senate recognizes that the accomplishments and strides made by the University of Delaware during the past 15 years, are in significant measure attributable to President David P. Roselle.
