UNIVERSITY GUIDELINES FOR FACULTY PROMOTION AND TENURE   Attachment 1      Attachment 2

 

Whereas           the University Committee on Promotion and Tenure (Committee) has become aware of deficiencies in Section III (Personnel Policies) of the Faculty Handbook, and

 

Whereas           the Committee has discussed these deficiencies and possible remedies for more than a year, and

 

Whereas           the Committee has discussed the proposed changes to the Handbook with the Provost and Associate Provost, and

 

Whereas           the Committee has discussed the proposed changes to the Handbook with the

Executive Committee of the University Faculty Senate, be if therefore

 

Resolved          that changes be made to Section III of the Faculty Handbook. (These changes

are specified and justified in the above attachments).

 

 

2.      Recommendation from the Committee on Undergraduate Studies (Tomas Leitch, Chair) with the concurrence of the Coordinating Committee on Education (Charles Boncelet, Chair) and the Executive Committee (Karen Stein, Chair) for a new Minor in Environmental Engineering (Attachment ) (Attachment)

 

Whereas           there are a significant number of engineering programs in the United States that now offer both a major and a minor in Environmental Engineering, and

 

Whereas           a minor in Environmental Engineering will enable the

University of Delaware to compete for students who desire training in this field and give University of Delaware students the opportunity to gain expertise in the principals and practice of environmental engineering while maintaining there primary focus in a related field, and

 

Whereas           since the inception of the major, students from non-majors in related fields have taken as electives the upper-level environmental engineering courses that are being proposed for the minor in Environmental Engineering, be it therefore

 

Resolved           that a minor in Environmental Engineering be established.
