B.     Resolutions: 

 

1.      The Faculty Senate Committee on Faculty Welfare and Privileges (Jan Blits, Chair) and the Committee on Rules (Don Lehman, Chair) with the concurrence of the Executive Committee (Avron Abraham, Chair) propose the following revisions to the Faculty Handbook under Section IV: Policies and Procedures for Faculty, Academic Freedom and Standards of Conduct, Sexual Harassment (attachment)

 

Whereas,    the purpose of the University's Harassment Policy against unlawful harassment is to promote an academic and work environment that is free from all forms of unlawful discrimination and harassment whether that discrimination or harassment is because of race, color, gender, age, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status or any other characteristic protected by law and is designed to ensure a safe and nondiscriminatory environment that protects both the constitutional and civil rights of students, faculty and staff and;

 

Whereas,    the current Harassment Policy is unclear with respect to procedures to be followed, be it therefore

 

Resolved,   that the Faculty Senate recommends the Faculty Handbook be revised as indicated (attachment) in order to clarify the Harassment Policy procedures.
