EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING

MINUTES

 

I.                    Adoption of the Agenda – Approved

 

II.                 Approval of the Minutes – Approved as amended

 

III.               Announcements –

a.      A meeting with Dr. Jan Blits and Dr. Maxine Colm has been scheduled for this Friday, October 18, 2002 here in the Senate Office concerning the AAUP Faculty Contract.  The Executive Cte. Meeting scheduled for November 21st has been canceled.

b.      Provost Rich and Avron Abraham will present at the November Faculty Senate Meeting

 

IV.              Old Business –

a.      Term Limits in the Constitution Bylaws – The Committee on Rules has this item along with the Parliamentarian issue.

b.      Out of Class Exam Policy – Karen Stein has contacted Joe DiMartile, Registrar, concerning this issue.  She is waiting for Joe to get back to her with requested data. 

c.      Mental Disorders – Student Life is looking into this.  Mike Keefe brought to the Committee’s attention that he believes this to be already printed in the Student Handbook.  Jay will contact Clifford Keil, Student Life Chairman, concerning the issue.

 

V.                 New Business –

a.      Representation on the Graduate Studies Committee – The Graduate Studies Committee Chairperson has requested to have another A & S representative on the Graduate Studies Committee to help with the workload in representing Arts and Science.  The Graduate Studies Committee has one representative from each of the colleges.  The Executive Committee discussed this and it was noted that a Committee Chairman has the authority to invite a guest to the meetings when he chooses, and can invite the guest as many times as he wishes.  If he chooses to invite another A & S representative it is important for him to understand that this person is not a voting member of the Committee and must excuse him/her self when the voting deliberations begin.
