New Business: A) Proposal for the new M.S. degree in Biotechnology:

Drs. Dan Simmons and Melinda Duncan visited the Committee to provide a full explanation and rationale for the new major as well as the changes to the M.S. and Ph.D. program policy statement for Biological Sciences.    The Committee recommended that concentrations be defined in all four of the current tracks in Biological Sciences.

The Committee agreed to act promptly on this item agenda should it come forward during the spring semester.

                        B)  Proposal for adding a Health Services Administration Concentration to the RN to MSN Nursing Program; Larry Purnell visited the Committee to provide clarification on the different concentration options in the Nursing program.  The RN to MSN with a concentration in Health Services Administration program is a re-configuration of already existing courses.   This program is delivered in a distance format.   The total credits for this program is 137-138 credits.  Dr. Purnell noted that documents in the Nursing program need to be reviewed for consistency of terminology.  He reported that he will undertake this task and make sure that the catalog copy is consistent with the program policy statement and the WEB presentation of the program.

The Committee voted to approve the addition of the concentration.

B)  Chair provided updates on the following items:

            1)  No additional information yet received for the changes to the Human Development and Family Studies program.

            2)  The Chair reported that the Program Policy Statement is being revised for the change in name of the Ph.D. program in Climatology to Ph.D. in Geography.
