Members present:  Charles Mason, Chair; Abena Aidoo (Graduate Student), Robert Opila, Sandeep Patel, Pablo Huq, Peter Kolchin, Richard Fang, Darwin Davis, Mary Martin, Cynthia Paris, Matthew Kinservik, and Paula Vasquez (Graduate Student)

 

Old Business:

 

1)  Tabled item:  The changes and the revisions to the MFA program in Art were accepted as reported by Charles Mason and the revised plan of study was voted upon and approved.

 

2)  M.S. Program in Bioresources Engineering was approved previously by the Committee with the suggestion to inform the Chair of Bioresources Engineering consider that the track in Plant and Animal systems may or may not be part of the proposal.  The program policy statement was changed to reflect this option and the Bioresources Program Policy Statement was updated accordingly.

 

New Business:

 

1)  Discussion on courses on the Course Challenge List resulted in the reports that the issue with MATH 589 was responded to by J. Manon.  The challenge to CIEG 684 was withdrawn.  The chair is to ask the department to change MATH 514 to either a 400 level or for graduate students to use 666.

 

2)  Initial discussion occurred with the Committee with regard to the upcoming report on the recommendation for permanent status for the MS degree in Ocean Engineering offered in the College of Marine and Earth Studies and in the College of Engineering.
