The minutes of the October 25, 2006, meeting was approved.

Old Business

No new information was brought up regarding the MS program in Health Promotion.

New Business

            A)  Request for Permanent Approval of the MS in Health Administration.  The committee unanimously approved a motion by Kinservik, seconded by Fang, to recommend that this program be granted a three-year extension of its provisional status.  The basis for this recommendation is:

1.  Both the Chair of the School of Nursing and the Dean of the Health Sciences College recommended an extension of this program for one year.

2.  The Graduate Studies Committee believes two years is needed to for further development of this program and a third year is needed to accomplish updated reviews by the appropriate faculty senate committees.

3.  There is an indication by the Chair of the School of Nursing that the companion Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program in Health Services Administration may be eliminated and, if so, the MS in Health Services Administration would be the only program available for nursing students wishing to study in this area.

4.  The extension period will give the program director and faculty an opportunity to address the concerns raised in the Permanent Status Program Review report.

            B)  Modification of Program Policy Statement for MEEG Grad Programs.  It was not clear for the PhD program if the showing of 33 credits after the deletion of 27 credits from the first line of the first paragraph was a program change.  If so, this will need to be resubmitted as a program revision.  Mason will contact Prof. Buchanan for clarification.
