University Faculty Senate Committee on Research

The Research Committee met three times in 2008. We met first to establish our procedures for awarding General University Research Program (GUR) grants. The second meeting was to review 36 applications. We selected 22 to fund. The third meeting was to revise the guidelines for the GUR grants. We revised them to make the guidelines more flexible, especially for Art and Music faculties. We also agreed, when justified, that we would make grants larger than the current $6000 limit. We are still recommending $6000 but the new guidelines indicate that under special conditions we will consider proposals with higher amounts.
