Thank you for your prompt reply Suzanne.  We will choose 471 for the course to which the attached email refers.

I will put the info below with my “guidelines” for course inventory.

 Nancy,

I received notice as well.  Typically departments contact me first to confirm catalog numbers. To be honest, I’m not sure I would have advised you to not use X69, but as Chair of UGS, Fred can make that call.

Catalog numbers that are already used by most departments: (at any level)

X66 – Special Problem or Ind. Study

X67 – Experimental courses

X68 – Research courses

X69 – a few departments have used X69 for research courses.

I checked the inventory yesterday for available catalog numbers that were close to 469.

 471, 472, 473 and 474 are available.

At this point, the form cannot be edited. Just let me know what catalog number you plan to use and I will change it manually after the data from the course inventory application has been moved into UDSIS.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Subject: New Course Numbers

 Hi Suzanne,

Can you please direct me to the instructions for numbering new courses?  I selected 469 for our of our new courses and just received an email from Fred Hofstetter in IGS stating that we need to change this number due to it being a research course number.

 Thanks for your assistance,

Nancy
