Describe the rationale for
the proposed program change(s):
(Explain your reasons for creating, revising, or deleting the
curriculum or program.)
Currently, UNIV 101 and IFST 101: Human Services and Cultural
Competence are designated Freshman Year Experience (FYE) courses for the Early
Childhood Education major. Only one course is needed for an FYE and UNIV 101
has not been found to meet the needs of ECE students. Consequently, the UNIV
101 requirement will be removed from the program requirements for the major.
The total number of credits for the program will remain the same at 124.
Program Requirements:
(Show the new or revised curriculum as it should appear in the
Course Catalog. If this is a revision,
be sure to indicate the changes being made to the current curriculum and include a side-by-side comparison of
the credit distribution before and after the proposed change.)
