None
Describe the rationale for
the proposed program change(s):
(Explain your reasons for creating, revising, or deleting the
curriculum or program.)
Currently Early Childhood Education (ECE) majors must fulfill
a humanities requirement from a list of courses that are decided by the IFS
department. The current list includes many subject areas as well as individual
courses in Womens Studies and CSCC. Using such broad categories inadvertently
allows inappropriate (i.e. non-humanities) courses to be included. In addition,
the list needs to be revised every year to ensure that courses are still being
taught and that the numbers are correct. The proposed change would require
students to take an Arts and Sciences group A
requirement or a foreign language to fulfill the humanities elective
requirement. This change would ensure that the courses that students in the
major choose fit the intention of the requirement.
Program Requirements:
(Show the new or revised curriculum as it should appear in the
Course Catalog. If this is a revision,
be sure to indicate the changes being made to the current curriculum and include a side-by-side comparison of
the credit distribution before and after the proposed change.)
