Proposal to move the English Language Institute (ELI) to the College of Arts and Sciences

Whereas,

the English Language Institute’s mission of teaching, research, and service in second language acquisition, cross-cultural communication, and academic preparation aligns with that of many departments within the College of Arts and Sciences, and

Whereas,

the English Language Institute is an academicunit requiring a college home, and

Whereas,

the faculty members of the English Language Institute endorse the transfer of the unit to the College of Arts and Sciences, and

Whereas,

the proposal for the transfer of the English Language Institute from the College of Education and Human Development to the College of Arts and Sciences is acceptable to the Deans of each College and has been approved unanimously by the CAS Faculty Senate,

Be it therefore resolved,

that the University Faculty Senate affirms the proposed transfer of the English Language Institute from the College of Education and Human Development to the College of Arts and Sciences.
