Describe the rationale for the proposed program change(s):

(Explain your reasons for creating, revising, or deleting the curriculum or program.)

We are proposing this addition based on two main factors.  One, it was part of our original program plan to design a minor; this action is already supported by the School of Urban Affairs faculty.  Two, the major in Public Policy focuses on the development of policy-related skills and professional dispositions designed to enable graduates to effectively take on roles of responsibility to contribute to their communities and society at large. Students in other UD majors who have interest in exploring their major field of study with a focus on public policy could directly benefit from adding a minor in this area.  Since public policy plays a key role in many areas of study, from agriculture to business to health to marine studies, we see this minor as one that could benefit students across the University, not only those within the College of Arts & Sciences. Moreover, during the first two years of our BA in Public Policy program, there have been a significant number of inquiries from students with other majors in regards to the feasibility of having a minor in public policy.
