of Urban Affairs and Public Policy
Resolution
Whereas,
The University of Delaware has undertaken a reorganization
of certain programs and activities: and
Whereas,
The Directors of its affiliated Centers, the faculty,
professional staff and all other
personnel in the School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy have voted to
approve a plan to move in toto, the faculty,
professional staff and all other personnel, academic and other programs and
activities in the School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy and its affiliated
Centers including the Center for Community Research and Service, the Center for
Applied Demography and Survey Research, the Institute for Public
Administration, and the Center for Historic Architecture and Design
(hereinafter “SUAPP”) to a newly created College of Public Affairs; and
Whereas,
The
goal is to strengthen existing academic programs; raise their prominence externally
and at the University; initiate new academic programs; advance University and
College priorities and enhance student learning opportunities; and
Whereas,
With
the concurrence of the Directors of its affiliated Centers, the faculty,
professional staff and other personnel in the School of Urban Affairs and
Public Policy by a vote of 45 in favor 7 opposed with 2 abstentions (with
SUAPP’s faculty voting 21 in favor, 4 opposed, and 1 abstention), recommend the
creation of a new College of Public Affairs and transfer; and
Whereas,
The terms and conditions stated in a
memorandum of understanding executed by the Provost are incorporated by
reference into this resolution;
Now
Therefore:
Be
it Resolved,
That
the College of Public Affairs be established and the proposed transfer of
faculty, professional staff, and all other personnel, programs, Centers
affiliated with the School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy in the existing
College of Education and Public Policy
to a newly created College of Public Affairs should become effective as of July
1, 2010.
