Hi Lynn - below are the proposed changes to the pediatric concentration
for the nutrition majors approved by our program faculty at our first
meeting today. Our department undergrad studies meeting is on Sept 19.
If you could give us your dept ok to proceed by then, it would be
appreciated. Please let me know if you have any questions. Nancy Cotugna

Pediatric Concentration - 15 credits

Current Concentration:

Required Courses
IFST 201: Life Span Development (infancy through old age) IFST 221:
Child Development IFST 329: Adolescent Development (201 is prerequisite)

Restricted Electives - Choose 2

IFST 202 Foundations of Family Studies
IFST 270 Families and Developmental Disabilities IFST 410 The
Hospitalized Child IFST 470 Families and Children at Risk (prerequisite
of IFST 201)

Suggested new configuration for concentration:

Required Courses:

IFST 201
IFST 220
IFST 221

Elective Courses - 2 from the following:
IFST 202, 230 (Families and Communities), 270 , 329 (201 is
prerequisite), or 470 (201 is prerequisite).

We anticipate a maximum of 10 students per year might select this
concentration (our total student numbers are increasing), but recent
past numbers have been only 5-6.
