UNIVERSITY FACULTY SENATE RESOLUTION TO EXTEND TIME PERIOD FOR SUBMISSION OF
Proposed changes
to existing PROMOTION AND TENURE statements to the
University
Committee ON PROMOTION & TENURE
from March 1,
2011 to AUGUST 15, 2011:
WHEREAS,
the University Committee on Promotions and Tenure has been working on revisions
to promotion and tenure policies that have required discussions with
representatives of the AAUP, the Administration and the Faculty, and
WHEREAS,
these discussions have caused delays in the reviews of changes to promotion and
tenure statements that have been approved by the appropriate college committees
and deans, and
WHEREAS,
to not further inconvenience departments
or units who have been waiting to have their documents approved by the
University Committee on Promotions and Tenure, some for as long as 12 months,
be it therefore

Department Responsibilities
Changes in promotion and tenure statements, which should be made only
for compelling reasons, should first be sent to the appropriate college
committee and dean. If approved, they should then be forwarded to the
University Committee on Promotions and Tenure and to the Provost, both of whom
will review the proposals for compliance with this document, and suggest
revisions if necessary. Upon acceptance of the revised document, they will sign
and date it to signify its approval. Proposed changes to existing statements
must be submitted to the University Committee and Provost by March 1 to become
effective by September 1.
